Webquest

Webquests are a form of Universal Design. Webquests are a great way to integrate technology into an already busy and over loaded curriculum. They are a great way to cover many different aspects of a topic and have students find appropriate information (maybe even teach the class). Students will retain a lot more information as they have a larger hand in the research and delivery of instruction.

  1. I agree that students will retain a lot more by finding their own information, rather than being given/told information. I think webquests are a great way to structure the Internet in a sense and make it more manageable for kids to gain experience using the Internet to look for information and learn important skills to help them sift through the infinite amount of information available!

  2. I think that web quests can simplify the teaching learning process because it forces the students to think about what ever it is that you want them to think about. But it also allows the student to think.

  3. I like what you said, Lindsey. I am so impressed about how this tool could be very useful and fun alike. It was a great and new knowledge for me to learn about it.

  4. You commented that webquests are a great way to teach. A teacher can plan math, science and language arts in one webquest lesson. The challenge is that our schools today divide up subjects. The connection between skills is not always obvious for students. Students often preform for the grade and don't necessarily see how it will help them throughout life. Webquests help for students to see the integration of subjects. The challenge will be for teachers to take three different text books and combine the skills to into one webquest.
